If you want to start doing trail running yourself, you should only stick to a few tips. First of all, it’s about choosing the right time of day. It is therefore essential not to go running too late since jogging stimulates your body. So, intense runs in the evening are not ideal. Beginners, in particular, need a few hours to find their way back to normal physical condition after exercising. If you run too late, you also risk not sleeping well. The body needs a recovery phase to be able to replenish its energy.

Many runners mistake the trail run for competition. Of course, this thought is also part of it, but first and foremost, it’s about having fun. This motivation is quickly lost when you realize that you must torture yourself, which means the recovery didn’t work correctly. Only a rested body can perform well, otherwise, the training is pointless. Trail running does not automatically mean that you have to run all the time. You can also walk. Especially when the route is going steep uphill, many runners change to a brisk pace; they only start running again on flat sections.
As with any training, recovery is also essential and especially important for beginners. Although resting can be a challenge for highly motivated runners too. As a rookie, it would help if you only ran two to three times a week in the beginning. That way your body has enough time to get used to the new stress and to recover. The training is only practical if there is enough time in between for recovery.

Those who value specific features can buy waterproof shoes or shoes with special protection for running on rocky terrain. But the most important thing is that your new shoes are comfortable for you.
It is, therefore, essential to take a lot of time trying different shoes on. You will recognize this when you walk or run at least 20 to 50 meters with the new shoe. In this way, you can quickly find out whether your choice is the right one. Then there is the rest of the equipment. The longer the run and the steeper and stonier the terrain, the more expensive the kit is. A breathable T-shirt and matching trousers are sufficient. It would help if you only took a light windproof jacket with you. That’s enough for the beginning!
